William Ruto Reveals Son is Studying Masters in Sports Management to Help Kenyan Football

President William Ruto has announced that one of his sons is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sports Management to contribute to the football industry in the country.

Speaking on Tuesday, April 15, at State House during the flagging off of the U-20 National Team, Ruto shared that his son is passionate about football and frequently advises him on ways to improve the sport in Kenya.

“I want to tell you that my son is a huge fan of football. He often tells me we need to take action, and to demonstrate his seriousness, he has enrolled in a Master’s program in Sports Management because he wants to support you. Young people in Kenya see the potential and opportunities that exist in sports, particularly in football,” he said.

Although he did not disclose which of his sons is pursuing this degree, a Master’s in Sports Management prepares students for leadership roles in the sports industry. Graduates can work in various areas, including football club management, national team administration, sports event coordination, federations, sports academies, journalism, media, and player representation.

Ruto emphasized that it is time to develop football in Kenya and announced that the new Talanta Stadium in Jamhuri is currently under construction, 40 years after the construction of the Kasarani Stadium.

“It’s time to elevate football to the level it deserves. We are building the Talanta Stadium here in Jamhuri, and in addition to that, we are refurbishing the Kasarani by installing a canopy. We aim to raise the standards of facilities across the country, including Nyayo Stadium, Kakamega Stadium, Kipchoge Keino Stadium, and many others,” he added.
