Super Metro Directed to Sack 269 Drivers in New Orders

Super Metro has been ordered by the Transport Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB) tribunal to sack 269 drivers before it can resume operations. 

This comes after the269 drivers were found to be unqualified.

“The appellant (Super Metro) shall immediately disengage 269 drivers as per the list marked ‘SPM7’ annexed to the respondent’s replying affidavit sworn on 10th April 2025,” part of the orders read.

These orders are part of eight orders issued to the popular sacco on Monday, April 14, hours before it announced that it would be suspending operations for the next three days to adhere to the set conditions.

The sacco has also been ordered to avail 42 drivers with overspeeding violations at the Likoni Driver Test Centre for retesting.

Moreover,  Sacco was ordered to present eight identified vehicles with various violations relating to speed limiters for a compliance check at the Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre.

31 more vehicles with identified compliance inspection issues at the inspection centre are also expected to be presented for reevaluation.

The fifth order issued was furnishing the minutes and the attendance list of the Road Safety Sensitisation of all its drivers to the Director of Road Safety of NTSA.

Furthermore, orders issued on March 18 that suspended operations of the Sacco will be reinstated until they reach compliance.

The matter will be mentioned on April 17 to confirm compliance and issuance of further directions.
