WhatsApp Prepares Major iPhone Redesign With Expanded Liquid Glass Support

WhatsApp is preparing to extend Apple’s Liquid Glass design to more parts of its iPhone app.

This will give users a preview of how the messaging platform could look as it adopts more of the visual style introduced with iOS 26.

According to reports, Liquid Glass is Apple’s new interface design language that uses translucent, rounded and layered elements to give buttons, menus and controls a glass-like appearance.

The design is intended to make interfaces feel more fluid while allowing elements to visually interact with the content behind them.

Reports indicate that WhatsApp began rolling out its initial Liquid Glass redesign more broadly earlier this year after months of testing, introducing the look to several parts of the app.

However, the company is still working to bring the design to additional features.

Users could therefore see more translucent and rounded buttons layered over their photos and videos when the feature is eventually released.

The video player is also set to receive the visual treatment.

WhatsApp is developing a Liquid Glass version of the progress bar displayed at the top of the screen when a user watches a video.

Additionally , the progress bar indicates how far a video has played and how much remains.

Under the planned redesign, it will adopt the more translucent appearance associated with Liquid Glass rather than the conventional interface currently used.
