The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has cautioned the public against a fake Facebook page impersonating its acting chief executive officer, Evaleen Mitei.
This comes amid claims that the account has been used to target job seekers with false employment promises.
In a public notice, the commission said the page, titled Mrs Evaleem Mitei, is neither managed by Mitei nor linked to TSC in any way.
“Please be advised that the social media page bearing the name Mrs Evaleen Mitei is fake and not associated with or operated by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Ag CEO Dr Evaleen Mitei, MBS,” the commission said.
Additionally, TSC distanced itself from all statements, information and communication issued through the account, stressing that the page does not represent the commission, its leadership or official recruitment processes.Members of the public were asked to disregard and report any interaction originating from the account.
Furthermore, the page had about 1,400 followers when it was flagged. Online users alleged that its operator had been soliciting money from desperate job seekers by making false promises of employment.
