Super Metros’ matatus have been directed to resume operations after the Transporting Licensing Appeals Board (TLAB) after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) decided to put on hold its operating license.
Super Metro had filed a complaint with the Tribunal on March 21 2025 challenging NTSA’s decision to suspend it terming it as unjust.
The Sacco argued that it had invested heavily in aligning its operations with the regulatory requirements and claimed that the temporary suspension would cripple its operation and impact thousands of livelihoods.
NTSA had cautioned the public against boarding vehicles belonging to the Sacco stating that it had conducted comprehensive analysis for Super Metro and found out that out if its 523 vehicles, 15 had expired inspection certificates which could pose risk to the public.

TLAB in its ruling directed Super Metro to resume its operation.
“An interim order is hereby issued suspending the execution, enforcement, and operation of the decision made by the Respondent on 18th March 2025 (NTSA/C/RT/010/2VOL)” part of the statement read.
TLAB added that the Sacco was at liberty to resume operations in full compliance with the law.
The tribunal further directed Inspector General of Police IG Kanja to be served with the ruling to enable the buses to operate freely without being impounded by the police.
Regarding the matter, the fate of Super Metro will be decided on Thursday March 27 2025, when the tribunal will deliver its final ruling on the case.
