“DNA samples were collected on February 12, and it has been confirmed that it was Lucy’s body parts that were retrieved from River Sagana on January 22. It is not even a whole body as we speak, only half the body, from the waist to the neck, with the hands and legs missing,” Wambui told the media.
Wamaitha disappeared on January 17 while on a work assignment in Embu County.
She was working for an NGO in Thika town and had travelled to Embu on January 16 with her boss and workmate.
Wamaitha is reported to have last been seen having a lunch meal in Embu town before her phone was switched off.
Her search led to River Sagana where detectives found a mutilated body without the head and legs.
Detectives have arrested Wamaitha’s boss who is alleged to have had differences with her before her death.
Wamaitha had allegedly reported her boss to donors for misusing funds meant to educate needy children.
