The 2026 Sirikwa Classic, part of the World Athletics Cross Country Tour Gold series, was staged at Lobo Village in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. The event attracted elite and upcoming athletes from Kenya and across the world.
Held on Valentine’s Day, it added a festive mood and drew enthusiastic spectators who celebrated both sport and love.

Women’s Race: Ng’etich Shines Again
Agnes Jebet Ng’etich retained her women’s 10 km crown with a commanding performance. Fresh from her World Cross Country Championship victory, she dominated from the start.
Her decisive win reaffirmed her status as one of Kenya’s brightest stars.
Ng’etich’s margin of victory was impressive, finishing more than a minute ahead of her rivals. Her consistency and strength thrilled the home crowd as her triumph added another jewel to her growing list of achievements.
For fans, watching Ng’etich defend her title was inspiring. Her success symbolised Kenya’s depth in women’s distance running.
Men’s Race: Korir Delivers for the Crowd
John Korir produced a strong finish to win the men’s senior race as his late surge secured victory against a competitive field. The home supporters erupted in joy as he crossed the line.
Korir’s performance was both tactical and powerful as he managed the pace well before striking at the right moment. His triumph added excitement to the Valentine’s Day spectacle.
The men’s race also saw tough battles, with former champion Daniel Simiu Ebenyo finishing fifth. This underlined the depth of Kenyan talent. Korir’s win, however, was the highlight of the day.
The winners of both the men and female races went home with a cook KSh 770k, while the second and third places won KSh 642k and 513k respectively.
Beyond the senior races, the Sirikwa Classic featured under-20 and junior categories. Young athletes showcased their potential, adding energy to the event. The winners took home KSh 160k, with the second and third places winning KSh 128k and KSH 103k respectively.
Spectators enjoyed a mix of competition and celebration. Families, couples, and fans turned Valentine’s Day into a festival of sport. The event blended romance, culture, and athletic excellence.
