Three police officers and a civilian have died following a tragic road accident along the Matuu–Mwingi Road in Machakos County.
The crash occurred on Sunday evening, February 15, near Mwatungo Primary School.
Preliminary reports indicate that the police vehicle developed mechanical problems, causing the driver to lose control before it rolled several times.

One officer died on the spot, while two others later succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at Kithyoko Level Three Hospital and Matuu Level Four Hospital.
The civilian who was also travelling in the vehicle was pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital.
One police officer survived the crash and was rushed to Matuu Level Four Hospital for treatment.
The tragic incident comes just weeks after two teachers lost their lives in a separate road accident in Ngara, Nairobi.
The January 31 crash happened when a speeding bus ploughed into pedestrians as teachers gathered for union elections at City Primary School.
One teacher died on the spot, while the other succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment in hospital.
Several other teachers were also injured and taken to hospital for medical attention.
Education CS Julius Ogamba confirmed the incident, stating that the vehicle rammed into teachers participating in the elections, leaving one dead at the scene, another dying later in hospital, and up to 26 others undergoing treatment.
Education CS Julius Ogamba conveyed his condolences to the families, relatives and friends of those who died in the accident.
He also offered prayers for strength and comfort for the bereaved during the difficult period.
Additionally, the Cabinet Secretary wished the injured teachers a speedy recovery as they continue receiving treatment.
