Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged mourners to maintain decorum during the burial of the late former Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho, emphasizing that political slogans should not disrupt the solemn occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Gachagua specifically warned his supporters against chanting “one term” slogans when President William Ruto takes the podium.
“If the president comes on the podium to speak, I do not want to hear you people chanting ‘one term’ because we loved you as the president and we chose you out of respect,” Gachagua said.

The former DP went on to add that while he is willing to work with Ruto, cooperation would be possible only if the Head of State avoids associating with figures he described as problematic, including Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.
Gachagua also appealed to attendees to focus on honoring the late MP rather than turning the ceremony into a political event.
“We are here for a burial, and the president has come in good faith. Let us respect this moment,” he noted.
This is the first time that Ruto and Gachagua have shared a podium amid the rising tension between the two leaders.
The late David Kiaraho was remembered for his contributions to the Ol Kalou constituency and his dedication to public service.
He died abroad in March while receiving treatment.
