President William Ruto has travelled to Lusaka, Zambia, to attend the inauguration of President-elect Hakainde Hichilema at the National Heroes Stadium.
The Kenyan Head of State arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Tuesday morning, September 1, where he was received by Zambia’s Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary for Technical Services, Nicholas Phiri.
Before departing Nairobi, President Ruto was seen off by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Chief of the Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, and Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, among other senior government officials.

Hichilema secured a decisive re-election victory, polling 2,965,326 votes, which represented 60.49 percent of the total valid votes cast.
His closest rival, Brian Mundubile, finished second with 1,856,217 votes, accounting for 37.87 percent.
In a message following his victory, Hichilema expressed gratitude to Zambians for renewing his mandate, describing the election as a testament to the nation’s commitment to peace, democracy, and the rule of law.
He noted that his campaign had taken him across all 116 districts, allowing him to witness firsthand the challenges facing citizens in cities, compounds, villages, and farms, and reinforcing his resolve to address them.
The president-elect also acknowledged those who voted for his opponents, assuring them that his administration would continue working to ensure development reaches every Zambian regardless of political affiliation.
He emphasized that the concerns of citizens had been clearly communicated through the election and pledged to intensify efforts to deliver meaningful development across the country.
Hichilema called for unity and cooperation as Zambia moves beyond the electoral period, vowing to dedicate his administration to development, progress, peace, and prosperity for all Zambians.
