Two more suspects linked to vehicle parts theft have been apprehended in Nairobi.
This comes at a time when police are intensifying operations against criminal gangs targeting motorists across the city.
In a statement by the National Police Service (NPS), the service said officers from Obama Police Station intercepted a motorcycle carrying two suspects along Kangundo Road during an intelligence-led operation.
During the operation, officers recovered suspected stolen vehicle parts, including a Toyota Harrier grille and a Toyota Harrier headlight.
Police said the recovered parts were marked with a vehicle registration number, giving investigators an important lead in tracing the rightful owner and helping establish how the theft was carried out.
The arrests come amid growing concern over the rise in vehicle parts theft across Nairobi, where motorists have increasingly fallen victim to criminals targeting vehicles parked in public places or even those caught in traffic.
Headlights, grilles, side mirrors and vehicle emblems have become some of the most commonly stolen parts, leaving owners with expensive repair and replacement bills.
The National Police Service has therefore urged motorists to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activity, saying public cooperation remains critical in dismantling organised vehicle theft networks.
