The Directorate of Criminal Investiagations (DCI) have arrested a suspected drug trafficker in Mtwapa, Kilifi County, and recovered 35 large rolls of cannabis sativa during an operation conducted at his home.
In a statement by the authority, the operation followed a tip-off regarding alleged narcotics activities in the area.
The suspect was apprehended at his residence within Mtwapa Township after detectives launched an operation targeting suspected drug-related activities.
According to the DCI, detectives conducted a search of the suspect’s house, where they discovered 35 large rolls of cannabis sativa.
With the suspect now in custody, detectives are pursuing further investigations to establish the source and intended distribution network of the narcotics,” the DCI said.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigators work to establish where the drugs were obtained and whether other individuals are involved in the alleged trafficking operation.
The latest arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by the DCI to disrupt the distribution of narcotics and apprehend individuals suspected of involvement in the illicit trade.
The agency reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking, particularly through intelligence-led operations and information provided by members of the public.
The DCI urged Kenyans to report suspected criminal activities through its anonymous reporting channels.
