A plane operating on the Mandera-Nairobi route has reportedly lost control and crashed into a nearby vegetation at the Mandera Airstrip runway.
The incident which occured on Friday, April 24, in the morning, raised concerns among passengers and the plane crew.
Preliminary reports indicate that all passengers and crew on board the plane were safely evacuated.
According to reports, emergency response teams stationed at the airstrip quickly moved in to retrieve the passengers who had been trapped inside the wreckage before securing the scene.
Further reports indicate that the aircraft veered off the runway moments after landing at the Mandera Airstrip in Mandera County from Nairobi.
Operations at the airstrip were temporarily disrupted as the aviation officials worked to ensure the safety of subsequent flights.
While the exact cause of the loss of control has not yet been established, investigations have since been launched into the matter to determine whether mechanical failure or weather conditions could have contributed to the incident.
Security agencies have reportedly cordoned off the affected section of the runway to allow for safety inspections and recovery of the aircraft.
