The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership on Friday met with families of those who lost their lives during the body viewing of the late ODM leader Raila Odinga at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, and Nyayo Stadium.
In a statement, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna noted that the party hosted the families of Vincent Otieno Ogutu, Evan Onyango Kiche, Josfae Jida Burka, and Josephine Akeng’o at Chungwa House.
He went on to review that the meeting was meant to convey condolences and show solidarity as the families mourned their loved ones.

The party assured the bereaved families of its support and vowed to pursue justice for the victims, describing the deaths as both tragic and preventable.
In an earlier statement on October 22, Sifuna pledged to engage relevant authorities to ensure accountability for the security lapses that led to the loss of lives during what was meant to be a peaceful national farewell.
He reaffirmed that ODM would not relent in its pursuit of justice for the victims and reiterated the party’s demand for humane crowd control and accountability in state-led public events.
The tragedy unfolded during chaotic moments at the public viewing of the late Raila Odinga’s body, where large crowds of mourners struggled to access the venues.
Previous reports confirmed that at least three people died in stampedes and confrontations involving mourners and police officers.
