Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Chairperson Gladys Wanga has dismissed claims that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna faces expulsion from the party following his absence at the recent Central Committee meeting.
Speaking on Tuesday, January 13, during an interview on Ramogi TV, Wanga emphasized that ODM is a democratic party where members are entitled to hold individual opinions.
She noted that Sifuna’s views on the broad-based government arrangement do not constitute misconduct and do not warrant disciplinary action.

Wanga further explained that party discipline is only applied once the party reaches a binding, collective decision, underscoring that divergent opinions are allowed within ODM.
She also challenged the rationale behind calls for Sifuna’s expulsion, questioning what misconduct the ODM Secretary-General had allegedly committed to justify such action.
Wanga moreover revealed that Sifuna had sent an apology, citing a missed flight as the reason for not attending.
She added that the Central Committee meeting proceeded without disruption, noting that as long as the quorum is met, the absence of a few members does not affect the conduct of the session.
