Moses Kuria Confronts CS Duale on Mt Kenya Politics

Moses Kuria has cautioned Health CS Aden Duale, Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago and Tiaty MP William Kamket over remarks suggesting that the Mt Kenya region views itself as a superior community.

In a statement released on Saturday, August 16, Kuria noted that he will not allow the blanket condemnation and collective punishment of the Mt Kenya region.

“In the recent past, I have listened to a number of leaders allege that there is a community that thinks it’s superior to others. From Kamket to Mandago to Aden Duale in Balambala today. Some of us have unapologetically said no to returning this country to the politics of negative ethnicity. Equally, we will vehemently resist wholesale condemnation and collective punishment of an entire community.”

Kuria went on to state that if CS Duale, Kamke and Mandago had a problem with any individual from the Mt. Kenya region, they should not extend it to condemn the entire community.

Speaking on Saturday in Balambala in Garissa, CS Duale stated that there is no superior community in Kenya, emphasizing that the constitution guarantees equality for all communities.

The Health CS claimed that President Ruto was being unfairly targeted for his efforts to unite the country.

Further, Duale noted that the pastoralist community will back President Ruto’s re-election bid in the 2027 general election.

This is not the first time Kuria has called out CS Duale.

On August 3, Kuria criticised the Health CS over his threat to deport former Kesses MP Swarup Mishra.

Kuria warned that the move could damage investor confidence and Kenya’s international reputation.
