Millie Odhiambo Raises Concern Over Kenyan Women and Foreigners

Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has expressed concern over what she described as the vulnerability of some Kenyan women when interacting with foreigners.

Speaking on Sunday, February 15, Odhiambo was reacting to a viral scandal involving a Russian man who has been recording encounters with unsuspecting women in public spaces.

The man, identified as Yaytseslav Trahov, is seen in several videos approaching random women and persuading them to accompany him to a private location.

However, the clips do not reveal what happens afterward or any intimate moments.

The videos, which have sparked widespread debate online, were shared on TikTok, drawing attention to issues of safety and awareness in such interactions.

From the outset, Millie Odhiambo condemned the foreigner’s actions, saying he was wrong to violate the privacy of women who had trusted him.

She argued that the man’s conduct was unacceptable and called for his arrest and prosecution. Odhiambo also expressed concern for the women involved, noting the distress they may be experiencing after their faces were widely circulated across social media platforms.

Odhiambo also challenged Kenyan women, suggesting that some tend to lower their guard when dealing with foreigners whom they perceive to be of higher status.

She noted that many women remain cautious and alert around local men but appear to relax those same boundaries when approached by foreign nationals.

While acknowledging that women are free to associate with whoever they choose, Odhiambo stressed that dignity and self-respect should never be compromised.

She urged Kenyan women to rethink attitudes that may place foreigners on a pedestal, warning against the lingering mindset that certain races are superior.

The incident sparked mixed reactions online, with many raising concerns about how foreigners treat Kenyan women.

Some questioned why the women agreed to accompany the man to his residence, especially amid growing fears over femicide.

Others argued that the encounters may have been harmless and driven by a desire for companionship.
