Embattled car dealer Khalif Kairo is mourning the death of his mother, whom he said passed away on Sunday morning, February 13, after a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness.
In a statement shared on X, Kairo disclosed that his family is grieving the loss but remains grateful for the time they spent with her.
He described his mother as a strong and resilient woman who faced her illness with courage and dignity until the end.

Kairo also paid tribute to the love, memories, and lessons she leaves behind, noting that her strength and grace throughout the difficult period will be remembered by those close to her.
The deceased, until her demise, was situated in the United States, per Kairo’s history of visits.
Kairo’s mother’s death comes at a time when the car dealer has faced a series of legal troubles linked to fraud allegations.
His challenges began in early 2025 when he was arrested and charged after several clients complained that they had paid him for vehicles that were never delivered.
Prosecutors claimed he convinced customers to transfer large sums of money for car purchases that did not materialise.
Among the cases cited were payments of nearly Ksh3 million for a Subaru Outback and over Ksh2.1 million for a Honda Vezel, both of which were allegedly not supplied.
Kairo’s attempts to secure bail were unsuccessful, with the prosecution arguing that he posed a flight risk.
Throughout the proceedings, he maintained his innocence and denied the accusations.
He remained in custody for several months before being released in September 2025 after the cases were withdrawn.
Reports indicated that the complainants dropped the charges after receiving refunds.
Kairo had conducted the transactions through his dealership, Kai and Karo Ltd, which specialises in new and second-hand vehicles, motorcycles, and spare parts.
