Man Intercepted as He Tries to Access Ruto’s Podium in Wajir

President William Ruto was ambushed by a man during his tour in Wajir who attempted to get close to him on February 12, 2026.

The Head of State was in his second day tour in Northern Kenya where he was overseeing the disbursements of funds under the National Youth Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project.

During his speech, an unidentified man attempted to get close to him unexpectedly.

According to reports, he sprinted from the right side of the podium, approaching from Ruto’s blind side as the Head of State addressed the gathered crowd.

However, the Head of State’s security team immediately sprang into action and tackled the lad mere seconds before he could get to the president.

This prompted Ruto to nearly loose his balance from the sheer force that was used by security to hustle the individual from the podium.

Despite that, Ruto appeared graceful and was heard urging security to take it easy on the invader.

“Leave him, leave him. Let him sit there (at the front); I will speak to him after this,” President Ruto said.

During began his tour in Northern Kenya in Garissa where he noted that the modernisation of the Airstrip into Northern Kenya will see the runway expanded and upgraded to accommodate larger and more aircraft boosting passenger traffic by over 200,000 annually.

The NYOTA (National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement) project in Kenya offers opportunities for unemployed youth through skills training (digital, technical, socio-emotional), paid apprenticeships (On-the-Job Experience), business startup capital (KES 50,000), mentorship, and certification for informal skills, all aimed at improving employability, fostering entrepreneurship, and enhancing financial literacy for better economic empowerment.
