Malik Lemmy Celebrates 20 Years in Film Industry

Renowned Kenyan actor Malik Lemmy who is popularly known as Govi is celebrating a  monumental milestone of 20 years in the entertainment industry.

Taking to his social media to celebrate this major milestone, the 24-year-old shared a heartfelt message of gratitude.

He reflected on the incredible opportunities he has enjoyed throughout his acting career.

The post included a compilation of his work, showcasing roles in movies, infomercials, TV series, voiceovers, and brand ambassador gigs.

In his caption,the young actor wrote: 

“Thank you for being part of my journey. Cheers to 2025—here’s to winning and many more! God bless us. God bless Kenya. #YoungBillionaire.”

Moreover, accompanying the post was a video marking his 20-year milestone in the entertainment industry. 

 “20 years in the industry. God is the greatest! I am forever humbled because it could have been someone else in my shoes. To everyone we’ve crossed paths with or who has supported my career, I love you and be blessed.”

Malik Lemmy entered the acting scene at a tender age of just 5 years.

He first appeared in Makutano Junction where he played the role of a street child for a few episodes.

Later on, Malik gained prominence through his portrayal of Govi in Machachari, a role that endeared him to many Kenyan households.

Following his success in Machachari, Malik expanded his acting portfolio with roles in various productions. 

These productions included: Kina (2020) where he took on the character Vinnie. 

Present Chronicles Love Gone Sour in 2021, Malik showcased his talent as both an actor and writer in this short film. 

Pepeta 2022–2023 Portraying Dimore, Malik starred in this TV mini-series that delved into the world of Kenyan football and  ‘Mawimbi’, a 2022 short film directed by Mark Wambui among others.
