Majembe Discusses Future Plans for Ksh1.7M Prize Following Mbavu Clash

Kenyan boxer Majembe has revealed his future plans on the Ksh1.7 million he earned following his victory over Ferdinand Omondi alias Mbavu the Destroyer during the Vurugu boxing event.

Speaking during an interview on Friday, April 10, 2026, Majembe confirmed that he has already received the full amount in cash.

However, he opted to have the money deposited, explaining that holding large sums of cash can easily lead to poor spending decisions.

According to the rising boxers, this is a move to manage his earnings responsibly.

“I have already received the money from the fight, but I chose to have it deposited instead of keeping it in cash because it is easy to misuse cash. In total, I earned Ksh1.7 million,” he said.

According to a video seen by Whisperswire, Majembe was seen being handed a dummy key to symbolise the occasion before an official from the betting company retrieved the vehicle’s actual keys and handed them over to him, officially declaring that the car now belonged to him.

he moment was accompanied with loud jubilation and cheers from those in attendance.

“Now I will not walk anymore. And the person I wish to drive with this car first is my mum. But my whole family, I also wish to carry them in this car so they can feel it and experience it. It will be so special for me,” Majembe said.

“It’s an achievement and a special thing for me because in my family, no one owns a car, even where I come from. That means I will be the very first,” he added.
