Gachagua Reveals Whereabouts After Othaya Church Drama

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has addressed his whereabouts hours after chaos erupted at Wairima ACK Church in Othaya.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader said he managed to escape the unrest that rocked the area, where videos circulating online showed tear gas canisters and the sound of gunfire during an event he was scheduled to attend.

Gachagua stated that he was evacuated with the assistance of local residents working alongside his private security team and was later taken to safety.

He confirmed that he had since returned to his Wamunyoro residence, noting that he was safe following the incident.

Gachagua’s clarification came amid growing concern within opposition ranks, with some leaders alleging that the former deputy president had been abducted during the chaos in Othaya.

The DCP party leader reiterated his earlier claims, insisting that the unrest was state-sponsored and accusing police officers of acting on direct instructions from the government.

Shortly after the incident, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka sharply criticized President William Ruto and his allies, accusing them of orchestrating the disruption.

Kalonzo warned that any harm to Gachagua would have serious consequences for the country and placed full responsibility on the president.
