The Embassy of Kenya in Riyadh has successfully traced four-year-old Baby Precious Wambui in Saudi Arabia and facilitated her release as she begins her journey back to Kenya.
In a statement issued on Sunday, August 23, 2026, the Embassy confirmed that the child had remained connected with her mother, Penina Wanjiru Kihiu, virtually through the support of friends and well-wishers during the period of separation.
Ambassador Joseph Masila facilitated her release following concerted efforts by the Kenyan mission to trace, document, and prepare the child for repatriation.

“The safe release and repatriation of Baby Precious Wambui is a testament to our unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable Kenyan citizens abroad,” said Ambassador Masila.
“We are deeply grateful to the Saudi authorities and the diaspora community whose collaboration made this reunification possible.”
The successful operation was the result of close coordination between the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Kenyans in the diaspora, whose support proved instrumental throughout the process.
The Embassy expressed its profound gratitude to all parties who contributed to the tracing, documentation, and repatriation efforts, noting that the achievement reflects its continued commitment to protecting and assisting Kenyans in the Kingdom, with particular focus on vulnerable children and families.
Baby Precious Wambui is now en route to Kenya for reunification with her family, bringing to a close a challenging chapter and marking the beginning of a joyful reunion between mother and daughter.
