Popular Public Service Vehicle (PSV) Sacco Super Metro has refuted claims that its buses were ferrying goons to disrupt a political rally in Kirinyaga County.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 24, the company said the buses spotted in Kirinyaga were carrying high school students who were heading for a hike at Kathandeni Forest in Gichugu Constituency.
According to Super Metro, the students had no connection to political activities or the meetings being held in the area.
“The AIC Church Ziwani Nairobi has clarified that the buses spotted in Kirinyaga were carrying secondary school boys and girls who were heading for a hike at Kathandeni Forest in Gichugu Constituency,” the statement read.
“The youths had no connection to political activities amid earlier claims that the buses were carrying people brought in to cause havoc at Rigathi Gachagua’s meetings,” it added.
The explanation followed viral videos of people, seemingly young people, inside buses in Kirinyaga County ahead of a political rally organized by the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).
Several leaders allied to the former Deputy President called out Super Mtero, accusing the company of ferrying goons to cause violence at the rally.
