Former Governor John Lonyangapuo Spotted Preaching in Local Church

Former West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo was recently spotted preaching during a church service in West Pokot County.

In video clips circulating online, Lonyangapuo is seen addressing worshippers directly, speaking passionately about faith, community, and moral responsibility.

The former governor’s active participation in the service surprised many, as it is uncommon for political figures to take on such a public religious role outside official functions.

Social media reactions were mixed, with some praising his humility and commitment to engaging with the community beyond politics, while others expressed surprise at his visible shift from political leadership to spiritual outreach.

Lonyangapuo’s political career began in the West Pokot County Assembly, and he later served as the second governor of the county from 2013 to 2022.

During his tenure, he was known for his outspoken leadership style and involvement in development initiatives, including education, infrastructure, and community programs.

His time in office was marked by both praise for local projects and public scrutiny over his candid and sometimes controversial statements.

While politicians often participate in church activities in Kenya, Lonyangapuo’s role in preaching during the service has stood out, signaling his continued influence and engagement with local communities even after leaving public office.
