Fake Degree Scandal: EACC Arrests Former Nairobi Water Official

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) confirmed charges against another Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) employee for using forged academic documents to gain employment.

The former Registry Clerk at Nairobi Water was charged with fraudulently using a fake university degree to unlawfully get a job on October 8, 2025.

According to the commission, the former clerk presented a falsified Bachelor of Commerce degree certificate, claiming it was from the University of Nairobi, to secure her position at the water company.

After further investigations, it was discovered that she had forged the certificate and earned approximately Ksh. 7.8 million salary from it.

She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on cash bail Ksh.80,000 or a one million bond.

The case is set to be heard on October 23, 2025.
