Nominated Senator Maureen Tabitha Mutinda has been elected to the board of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the 2025–2027 term.
In a statement issued by the Senate on Wednesday, October 8, Mutinda was announced as the East African region’s representative on the board of governance, which is responsible for setting the Network’s strategic direction and guiding its global activities.
Her appointment positions her to play a key role in shaping policy dialogue between parliamentarians and international financial institutions at a time when the region is navigating significant economic challenges.

The development comes as an IMF delegation continues talks in Nairobi on a potential new Fund-supported program for Kenya. The mission, which began on September 25, is scheduled to conclude on October 9.
Ms. Teferra reaffirmed the IMF’s commitment to supporting Kenya’s pursuit of economic stability.
The talks come as the country’s previous IMF-supported program is set to expire in April. Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has indicated that negotiations for a new arrangement are progressing well.
Meanwhile, the government is exploring the securitization of revenue streams to finance key infrastructure projects, including the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway from Naivasha to the Ugandan border and the modernization of Nairobi’s main airport.
