The authority insisted that first-time meetings, especially those arranged through social platforms and online dating applications, should be approached with caution.

“The DCI extends to you and your cherished ones heartfelt wishes of pure joy, serene moments, and unbreakable bonds wrapped in warmth. Exercise utmost caution when meeting someone from dating apps or social platforms for the first time,” the DCI added.

They further urged individuals to keep trusted friends and families aware of their whereabouts.

“Choose well-lit public places bustling with people for initial encounters; share your plans and location with trusted friends or family; trust your instincts if anything feels amiss, step away without hesitation”

This comes at time when Kenyans are celebrating Valentine’s day, a celebration of love, especially couples.

At this particular time, most people are prompted to meet with strangers to celebrate a moment of love.

The DCI’s warning is to curb unnecessarily cases of death in connection with meeting new people in online platforms.
