Police officers in Ruai, Nairobi, have rescued 70 foreign nationals from a suspected human trafficking syndicate.
The operation was carried out following a tip-off to the authorities.
According to the Kenya Police Service (KPS), the rescued victims included 66 Ethiopians and 4 Eritreans.

They had reportedly been locked inside a house in Ruai under inhumane conditions.
During the raid, police arrested a Kenyan believed to be orchestrating the trafficking ring. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the syndicate’s operations.
KPS confirmed that the victims are now receiving support and protection, and the agency urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to human trafficking.

This advisory comes shortly after detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested Festus Arasa Omwamba for allegedly running a human trafficking syndicate.
The arrest took place on February 25, carried out by detectives from Moyale Police Station.
Omwamba, 33, had been under investigation for his suspected role in trafficking vulnerable individuals out of the country.
Authorities say he was already on the police radar for similar offences.
According to the DCI, the syndicate targeted unsuspecting job seekers, luring them with promises of legitimate employment opportunities in European countries.
Investigations into the network’s operations are ongoing.
The suspect was placed in police custody before appearing in court, where he faced charges of human trafficking.
