Woman Detained as Probe Intensifies Into Death of Hospital Director Job Obwaka

Police have apprehended a suspect inthe ongoing investigation into the death of renown Nairobi Hospital gynaecologist Dr Job Obwaka.

The arrest involves a 45-year-old woman believed to have been the last person seen with the 83-year-old doctor before he collapsed.

With this, the detectives are now treating her as a key person of interest in the unfolding probe.

According to reports, the suspect was taken into custody on Saturday morning and is currently being held as investigations intensify under officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Reports indicate that the official police incident report filed at Kilimani Police Station indicates that Dr Obwaka was rushed to Nairobi Hospital by ambulance on Friday evening after collapsing in Kitengela, where he had reportedly gone on personal errands.

Further reports indicate that the doctor was in the company of the arrested woman at the time of the incident, adding a crucial line of inquiry for investigators seeking to piece together his final moments.

“It was reported that Dr Job Obwaka had been brought into the facility by ambulance after collapsing in Kitengela, where he had gone on personal errands in the company of the said woman, believed to be a business partner,” part of the police report read.

Medical personnel at the hospital confirmed that the veteran medic was dead on arrival, with officers noting that while he had a history of medical conditions, the exact cause of death remains undetermined.

Furthermore, the police revealed that the scene was documented and processed, with the body later moved to Lee Funeral Home pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.

The arrested woman is currently in custody as investigation continues.
