The embassy also warned its citizens to stay alert and beware of motorcycle crimes where thieves grab items from victims and quickly flee from the scene.

Regarding this, they were warned not to resist any robbery attempt.

Due to terror attacks and kidnapping, the embassy warned against travelling in Mandera, Wajir and Garissa and coastal areas such as Malindi.

According to them, terrorist acts which include armed assaults, suicide, operations, bomb or grenade attacks and kidnappings as well have mostly targeted areas with tourists, hotels and resorts, places of worship, markets and shopping malls.

The embassy further cautioned against demonstrations, strikes and other political-economic protests in areas such as Western Kenya and Nairobi which resulted in rock-throwing and police using deadly force.

They therefore urged the residents to always make backup plans to leave the country by ensuring they carry a copy of their U.S passport and entry stamp or put them in a secure location.
