United Opposition Appoints Kituyi as Spokesperson and Head of Secretariat

The United Opposition has appointed Mukhisa Kituyi as their spokesperson and the Head of Secretariat. 

Mukhisa Kituyi was appointed to the position after a meeting held at the SKM Command Center in Karen on Wednesday, September 3.

The United Opposition team comprises DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Jubilee Party Chairman Torome Saitoti.

Former CS Fred Matiang’i and Justin Muturi are also part of the United Opposition team.

Kituyi has a background in politics, diplomacy and economics.

He previously served as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Secretary-General between 2013 and 2021.

Kituyi, a former Kimilili MP and Trade Minister, has held influential roles in COMESA, ACP, and EAC trade negotiations. 

He was also a lead negotiator in EU-ACP talks and later advised EAC leaders on regional economic integration. 

In 2022, he briefly pursued the presidency before backing Raila Odinga.
