Uganda’s opposition leader Kizza Besigye appeared in court looking frail and sickly after launching hunger strike.
He was seen with hollow eyes and fallen cheeks which meant he had spent more days without proper meals.
His skin was also seen stretched thin over his prominent cheekbone with a mixture of anxiety and uncertainty.
The opposition leader began his hunger strike on Tuesday for allegedly being detained illegally.

Due to his pale body, his lawyers led by Lukwago told the court the proceeding should not continue arguing that if it continued, it would amount to violation of his human rights.
Despite the court ruling stopping the trials of civilians in military courts, Besigye will remain on remand facing court martial charges.
The Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on the other hand stated that his government would continue to prosecute civilians in military courts despite the Supreme’s court ruling.
Besigye has been detained since November 2024 after being reportedly abducted in Nairobi and charged with illegal possession of firearms and treachery.
However, regarding the hunger strike, Uganda’s prison spokesperson denied the ‘hunger strike protest’ claiming that Besigye was okay.
