Two family members have been confirmed dead after a food poisoning incident at a home in Siaya County.
The incident occurred at Kanyamelo village, in Gem County where two family members died while others rushed to Bondo hospital.
Officers from Akala police post visited the scene, at the homestead of one Earnest Ojigo Olum, at Kanyameno village, Kanyadet Sub Location, South West Gem location in Gem Sub County and established that some family members had suffered food poisoning attack and that two family members had died while three other members rushed to Bondo hospital with abdominal pains” Stated Susan Akoth, the area chief.
The report also stated that the two deceased identified as Earnest Ojigo Olum (74) and Otieno Ojingo (5) died after vomiting severely during the incident.
Their bodies were taken to Bondo Sub-County hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem.
The other three family members named Deborah Adhiambo Ojigo (19), Deborah Auma (19) and Val Adhiambo Ojigo (2) were rushed to Bondo complaining of abdominal pain.
The report also indicated that the family members experienced the ordeal after having ugali and cowpeas leave/ vegetables for dinner.
The food samples were taken for further analysis.
