Tragedy in Kajiado West as Wildlife Attack Kills ECDE Teacher

A tragic human–wildlife conflict incident in Kajiado West has claimed the life of a 35-year-old Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teacher, leaving her family and the local community in mourning.

In a statement issued on Monday, December 22, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) said the incident occurred in Lairupa Village within the Lodokilani area. 

The agency identified the victim as Eunice Kuria Maora and expressed deep sorrow over her death.

KWS said it was mourning the loss alongside the victim’s family, colleagues, learners, and the wider Lodokilani community, noting the profound impact of her death on those she served.

KWS responded swiftly to the incident in collaboration with partner agencies to prevent further loss of life.

The agency noted that it is enhancing support for the victim’s family while strengthening measures aimed at mitigating human–wildlife conflict in the affected area.

KWS reaffirmed its commitment to protecting human life and promoting peaceful coexistence between communities and wildlife, noting that the tragedy has deeply affected the agency and the wider community.
