Gor Mahia has responded to reports indicating that head coach Sinisa Mihic dismissed two members of his technical bench following a heated exchange during training.
The incident took place during the team’s training session on Fri78day, April 4, 2025, at Stima Club along Thika Road. A video surfaced showing a heated argument between Mihic and his assistant, Michael Nam.
Following the altercation, it was reported that Mihic allegedly dismissed Nam and Team Manager Victor Otieno. Additionally, there were reports of a fallout earlier in the week between Mihic and his other assistant, Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno.
Mihic had previously accused some members of his technical bench of sabotaging him, despite his efforts to financially support them.
“There is no way I’m going to work with them because I can’t be blackmailed. These are people I’ve tried to work with—I even lent them money. I’ve also used my own resources to support some of our activities out of goodwill. Why are they sabotaging and fighting me?” Mihic was quoted as saying by Daily Nation.
The 48-year-old coach further accused members of his technical bench of pressuring him to field underperforming players, particularly foreign players.
“I can’t allow influence to dictate my decisions. I won’t field players who fail to follow instructions. In fact, some Kenyan players are performing better than the foreigners I’m being pressured to play,” Mihic added.
“I have served as an assistant coach at various clubs, but I’ve never witnessed or exhibited the kind of conduct I’m seeing from some of my colleagues. It’s unacceptable,” he concluded.
Gor Mahia is set to face KCB in an away league match on Sunday, April 6, at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, starting at 16:00 hrs.
