Terrorism Case Against Activist Boniface Mwangi Withdrawn

Charges against Activist Boniface Mwangi have been dropped following his arrest on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

The activist who was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts on Monday, July 21, has been charged with two counts of possession of ammunition without a valid firearm certificate.

He was accused of having three firearm canisters and one round of black ammunition.

The DCI raided his offices at Hurlingham and arrested him in relation to terrorism charges.

While confirming the arrest, the DCI claimed that they had recovered several items such as 7.62M blank round, and two unused teargas canisters- not two as mentioned in the charge sheet.

Other items included nine assorted hard drives, two laptops, a company stamp, six cheque books and a copy of stamp duty documents.

However, speaking at Pangani Police Station, Mwangi’s family and Lawyers dismissed the DCI’s claim that he had any terrorism materials in his possession.
