Tension in Kitale as Speaker’s Aide Interrupts Meeting

Drama was witnessed at the Kitale Club in Trans Nzoia County on September 20 night after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula’s aide, Ben Juma, stormed a meeting to confront Joseph Pepela.

The incident unfolded as Pepela held discussions with former Kiminini legislator Chris Wamalwa.

A video clip making rounds on social media captures Juma lashing out at Pepela, accusing him of disrespecting Speaker Wetang’ula.

Wamalwa intervened, pulled out his gun in defense of Pepela, and directed Juma to vacate the premises without further confrontation.

Juma assured Wamalwa that he held nothing against him personally, stressing that his quarrel was with Pepela, and asked the former MP to step aside so they could settle their differences.

Security personnel swiftly intervened and escorted Juma from the club to keep the confrontation from intensifying.

The development follows closely on the heels of another political drama in Kisii County, where Kitutu Chache South MP Antoney Kibagendi clashed with his Kitutu Chache North counterpart Japheth Nyakundi during a funeral.

The scuffle erupted while both MPs were on the podium, after Kibagendi took the opportunity to unleash a strong verbal attack on President William Ruto.

Both MPs continued addressing the gathering at the same time, with each refusing to yield the microphone, creating growing tension among mourners.

The standoff boiled over when they began physically pushing each other across the podium, eliciting loud cheers from parts of the audience.
