In a heartbreaking turn of events, the Nairobi residents woke up to a shocking sight: the iconic Dedan Kimathi statue in the city centre vandalized, its head missing and parts of the monument badly damaged.
As per the time of writing this report police have police have disclosed that a suspect believed to be behind the act is in custody at Central Police Station.
In a viral video that was seen online, the suspect was seen parading Dedan Kimathi’s head statue before being arrested.
The Dedan Kimathi’s statue serves as tribute to the Mau Mau freedom fighter who led Kenya’s armed resistance against British colonial rule in the 1950s.
It’s also a symbol of courage and enduring spirit of independence.
