In a statement issued on Sunday, the DCI identified the suspect as David Onyango Elgon, also known as MC Adek Tatu, alleging that he was behind a series of insensitive and inflammatory posts shared on his Facebook account.

The DCI said detectives launched a manhunt after receiving actionable intelligence regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. The operation led officers to Queen’s Court in Utange, Mombasa County, where Onyango was arrested at his residence.

The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing processing and is expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

Meanwhile, the DCI cautioned Kenyans against the misuse of social media platforms, reminding users that freedom of expression must be exercised responsibly and within the confines of the law.

The agency further warned that publishing or sharing inflammatory content capable of inciting public unrest or division among citizens constitutes a criminal offence and may attract legal consequences.

Authorities urged members of the public to use digital platforms responsibly and avoid content that could undermine peace, security, and national unity.
