Detectives have arrested the main suspect linked to the murder of a 17-year-old Form Four student in Trans Nzoia County.
In a statement issued on Sunday, February 1, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed that the student was killed on the morning of January 30, 2026, in the Mowlem area of Kiptogot location.
The DCI said detectives based in Endebess arrested Mike Wabwire Semera, identified as the prime suspect in the killing of Rael Cheptoek Kaboi, a Form Four student at Nai Girls Secondary School.

According to investigators, police were alerted by members of the public, prompting an immediate response to secure the scene and conduct forensic documentation.
Officers from Endebess Police Station were deployed to a nearby farm, approximately 700 metres from the victim’s mother’s home, where the student’s body was discovered with visible signs of assault.
Preliminary findings established the victim’s movements shortly before her death, helping investigators piece together the timeline of events leading up to the discovery.
Detectives launched a manhunt after intelligence reports showed the suspect had attempted to flee across the border.
Working with regional security agencies, officers tracked him to the Kenya–Uganda Suam border, where he was arrested in a joint operation with Ugandan authorities.
The suspect has since been escorted back to Kenya and is being held at Endebess Police Station as he undergoes processing ahead of his court appearance.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the killing.
