Suspect Arrested in Alleged Trafficking of Kenyans to Russia

A man suspected of operating a human trafficking syndicate has been detained for ten more days to allow for complete investigations

This was after the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) requested his continued detention at the Kahawa Law Courts.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Edward Kamau Gituku, is allegedly involved in trafficking ring ferrying Kenyans to Moscow, Russia, where the victims are reportedly subjected to exploitation.

Reports indicate that the police, acting on intelligence, raided the Great Wall Gardens Estate in Athi River on September 25, 2025 and rescued 22 Kenyan nationals who were believed to be victims of human trafficking.

The houses where the victims were found were allegedly rented by the Gituku.

Among other things recovered were several passports and a Samsung Galaxy Phone, which has since been forwarded to the DCI Cybercrime Unit for forensic analysis.

Gituku was arrested and will be detained at Muthaiga Police Station for ten days.
