Super Metro Faces Scrutiny After Arrests Linked to Kitengela Death

Super Metro Limited has launched probe following the arrest of its driver and conductor in connection with a fatal accident.

According to reports, the incident took place on February 2 in Kitengela.

Reports indicate that the bus was travelling from Kitengela to Nairobi CBD with 32 passengers where it was stopped by a group of angry boda boda riders who claimed that the conductor had pushed a passenger from the vehicle and died on the spot.

The deceased, identified as Joseph Mureithi, was thrown out of the moving bus before it ran over him and drove off, smashing his head.

This caught the attention of the police who upon arrival at the scene, with the angry arrested the driver and the conductor, taking them to Athi River police station.

In response to the matter, Super Metro condemned the incident and assured the public that it is working closely with law enforcement agencies to facilitate investigations and resolve the matter.

“We are cooperating fully with the law enforcement and National Transport and Safety Authority as they conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident. Currently, the matter remains under investigation,” the firm said.

It therefore urged anyone with information regarding the incident to report to the law enforcement authorities.

According to reports, the bus is currently being held at Athi River Police Station, as both the driver and conductor are held in police custody, to allow proper investigations towards the matter.
