Maraga Slams Ruto, Accuses Regime of Systemic Theft

Former Chief Justice David Maraga has accused President William Ruto of turning the government into what he described as a crime syndicate that exploits public resources.

Speaking on Thursday, February 26, Maraga said that if elected president in 2027, he would take firm action against individuals implicated in the looting of public funds.

He pledged to run a transparent administration grounded in strict adherence to the rule of law.

Maraga vowed to immediately halt the theft of public money and ensure accountability across all levels of government.

He emphasized that no one would be shielded from prosecution, including close associates or political allies, should they be found culpable of corruption.

The leader of the United Green Movement, David Maraga, insisted that confronting corruption decisively is the only viable path to national recovery.

He argued that entrenched graft has weakened public institutions and eroded trust in government.

Maraga further pledged to prioritise reforms in the health and education sectors, which he said have deteriorated under President William Ruto’s administration.

He committed to ensuring consistent drug supplies in public hospitals and the timely disbursement of education funds to schools to safeguard learning standards.

He also announced plans to scrap the Social Health Authority (SHA) if elected, contending that the scheme has failed to meet its objectives due to low enrolment and limited benefits.

Additionally, Maraga urged Kenyans to register as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election, emphasizing civic participation as key to political change.

He reiterated his openness to working with the United Opposition coalition to unseat Ruto, but maintained that any alliance must be anchored on a firm commitment to fighting corruption and defending the Constitution.
