Sudi Cautions Gachagua Over 2007 Post-Election Violence Remarks

Kapsaret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has criticised the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his controversial comments on the 2007/2008 post-election violence.

In a video shared by Sudi, the MP warned Gachagua against inciting Kenyans by making ‘careless’ sentiments regarding the post-election violence.

According to the Kapsaret MP, while the law guaranteed every Kenyan, including Gachagua, freedom of expression, the latter should not abuse the privilege by engaging in unethical conversation, particularly one touching on a bitter historical event.

“Please do not talk about 2007/2008, it seems you do not know what you are saying. Our people suffered what has never been witnessed. Ask for votes, criticise all government officials, but do not engage in 2007/2008 conversation. You are becoming too reckless, you are not a leader. That is why you are a half-term DP”, he said.

He further urged Gachagua to be mindful of his remarks and noted that the 2007 post-election crisis had far-reaching consequences for many Kenyans who are yet to heal from the political upheaval.

This comes after the former DP cautioned that any attempts of trying to mess with the elections will make 2007 look like a Christmas party.

“With the mood if that IEBC tries to mess with the elections, there will be no country here, I want to tell you that 2007 will look like a Christmas party”, Gachagua said during an interview with Oga Obina on Friday, May 16, 2025.
