Several people are feared dead following a series of road accidents reported in different parts of the country.
On Wednesday night, September 16, a 14-seater matatu collided head-on with a trailer along the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway at Kapiti Plains in Machakos County.
The matatu, which belongs to Kinatwa Sacco, was travelling from Nairobi towards Mombasa when it collided with the trailer.

Preliminary reports indicate that at least five people died at the scene, while several others were injured.
The injured passengers were taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for treatment.
In a separate accident on Wednesday evening, four people were killed after a lorry lost control and hit pedestrians near Chomachoma along the Kisii CBD–Daraja Mbili road.
Several other people were injured and taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for emergency treatment.
The accidents come days after five people died in a crash at Kikopey along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway.
The Sunday night accident, which occurred on September 13 at around 11pm, involved an Easy Coach bus and a Toyota IST.
The bus was travelling from Gilgil towards Nakuru when it collided with the private vehicle.
Gilgil Sub-County Police Commander Winston Mwakio confirmed the accident and said investigations had been launched to establish the cause of the crash.
Four occupants of the Toyota IST, including two women and two juveniles, died at the scene.
The vehicle’s driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to Gilgil Hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.
Other passengers injured in the accident were also taken to hospital.
