Scores of people are feared dead following a tragic road accident near Ekerenyo in Nyamira County along the Kericho–Nyamira highway.
The fatal crash, which occurred on the night of Saturday, December 13, involved a 14-seater Public Service Vehicle (PSV) shuttle operated by Quarser Sacco and a trailer.
According to preliminary reports, the trailer was travelling from Ekerenyo while the shuttle was heading from Ikonge when the two vehicles collided head-on.

Authorities have confirmed that at least six people lost their lives in the accident, while several others sustained injuries.
In a statement, Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo said the county government swiftly deployed emergency response teams to the scene to assist the injured and support rescue operations.
Governor Nyaribo also conveyed his condolences to families who lost their loved ones in the tragic accident.
He said he was deeply saddened by the fatal crash at Ri’Arani in Ekerenyo Ward along the Kisii–Chemosit Road, which claimed several lives and left others injured.
The governor added that medical teams at Nyamira County Referral Hospital had been mobilized and were working around the clock to provide treatment to the injured victims.
