Security Boost as Resident Turns In Illegal Gun in Isiolo

A resident on Isiolo has voluntarily surrendered an illegal firearm to the police in Isiolo County.

In a statement on Saturday, February 21, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) said that the county received and secured an assault rifle together with three rounds of ammunition.

Reports indicate that weapon was handed over by a member of the public in the Oldonyiro area.

“Police officers in Isiolo County have received and secured an assault rifle, along with three rounds of ammunition, which was voluntarily surrendered by a member of the public in the Oldonyiro area. The firearm was handed over during an operation conducted with the assistance of National Government Administration Officers and village elders,” NPS stated.

The service has urged individuals still in possession of illegal firearms to present them to security agencies without delay.

They also appealed to members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement officers by sharing information that could help curb the spread of illegal firearms.

“The National Police Service commends all the stakeholders involved in the successful voluntary surrender of the illegal firearm. We urge all those still in possession of illegal firearms to voluntarily present them to the security agencies”, NPS added.
