Safaricom Addresses Concerns Over Reduced Fuliza Limits

Safaricom has explained why some Fuliza users may notice their borrowing limits being reduced even after consistently repaying their overdrafts, while also outlining how customers can refresh their limits.

The clarification followed concerns raised by a customer who questioned why their Fuliza limit had been lowered despite maintaining a good repayment record.

The customer also sought an explanation for deductions made from their M-PESA account balance.

In its response, Safaricom explained that Fuliza limits are not permanent and may be reviewed from time to time by the lending bank.

According to the telecommunications company, the adjustments are based on a customer’s usage patterns and other eligibility factors assessed by the financial institution.

Safaricom further advised customers that they can refresh their Fuliza limits once every month through the service, allowing the system to reassess their eligibility for a revised borrowing limit.

The clarification comes barely a week after Safaricom addressed concerns over delayed M-PESA transaction notifications.

The issue emerged after a customer complained that transaction messages were arriving late, causing confusion and misunderstandings during mobile money transactions.

However, Safaricom maintained that there were no network-wide delays affecting M-PESA notifications.

The company explained that in some instances, delayed message alerts could be caused by a customer’s mobile phone failing to display incoming messages immediately after they are delivered.

Earlier, Safaricom also responded to complaints from customers who reported that the Lipa na M-PESA option had disappeared from the SIM Toolkit menu on some mobile lines.

The telecommunications firm clarified that the payment service had not been discontinued.

Instead, it attributed the issue to older SIM cards that lack sufficient capacity to support the Lipa na M-PESA menu, advising affected customers to replace their SIM cards to restore the feature.
