Ruto Buys Bull for Ksh1 Million in Mombasa Auction

President Ruto outbid several leaders on September 4 to purchase a prized bull for Ksh1 million during the livestock auction at the Mombasa International ASK Show.

He emerged victorious in a heated bidding war for a three-year-old Chianina bull weighing 885 kilograms, imported from South Africa.

The bidding began at Ksh300,000, placed by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

President Ruto quickly raised it to Ksh400,000, followed by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir at Ksh500,000. Kingi countered with Ksh550,000, but Nassir returned with a Ksh600,000 offer.

Ruto then escalated the bid to Ksh700,000.

After consultations with Kingi, Nassir, Livestock PS Jonathan Mueke, and Sports CS Salim Mvurya, the final bid of Ksh1 million was placed, sealing the prized bull for the President.

The livestock auction was part of the Mombasa International Show, a five-day event from September 3-7, 2025, at the Jomo Kenyatta Showground in Mkomani, Mombasa.

The show serves as a platform for showcasing agribusiness, innovation, trade, and cultural activities.
